Pictures from an airplane at 12x zoom

Kanchendzonga

Mt. Everest and Mt. Makalu to the right

I used most of the 12x zoom on my Canon S3 IS to get this shot from the plane's window. However, I wasn't very impressed with the clarity of the shots. I tried multiple times with ISO 80 and a faster shutter, it made the images darker but not sharper. Finally, the mountains went out of range :P

Any thoughts on why, I could not get a clear shot. For one, I think it was to do with the continous vibration in the plane which amplifies at such high zoom. Any ideas on how I can get a crisp shot of this view the next time I fly that way?

Storm Clouds

From Creativity
Storm Clouds gathering swiftly!

I did not have much time to shoot this, and so the pictures weren't as good as they could be. It was a valuable lesson learned... not to shoot high contrast compositions in Auto mode. This picture was, at least I think, perfect, except for the high grain due to ISO set to High. Would have brought out a much clearer shot at ISO 80. Sigh! Maybe next time...

Delhi Monsoon

From Creativity

Speeding through the rain in Delhi.

Shot using a 2 MP phone camera on a Samsung E740. I like the interesting effect that comes our of forward motion with a slow shutter. Currently, I am experimenting on this. Hope to post an interesting one soon.

Until then, enjoy the monsoons!
